Last day to submit papers for by-polls

Today is the last day for submitting papers to contest by-polls, Dunya News Saturday reported. Twenty contestants including former cricketer Sarfaraz Nawaz and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharifs adviser Pervaiz Malik have submitted papers for NA 123 constituency in Lahore. Sarfaraz Nawaz said by contesting elections in Lahore he wanted to prove that it wasnt just Nawaz Sharifs hometown. According to the Election Commission officials, Sarfaraz Nawaz, Salman Butt, Pervaiz Malik, Khwaja Ahmad Hassaan, Amjad Rabbani, Shahbaz Rehman, Waheed Alam Khan, Kalimullah, Nadeem Shehzad, Azhar Siddiq, Nawaz Malik, Agha Javed Iqbal, Waheed Gul, Ramzan Bhatti, Shehzada Ahsan Ashraf, Javed Shahbaz Heera, Chaudhary Shahid Sarwar, Rana Naik Muhammad, Kashif Rana and Manzoor Bhatti submitted documents last day. For NA 123, 40 candidates have submitted their documents. Talking to media at Election Commission office Sarfaraz Nawaz told he had applied for a PPP ticket. He claimed he would prove that PPP is still popular by winning the election if ticket was awarded to him. Imran Khan might have withdrawn considering me his senior, he mocked. On the other hand PTI Chairman Imran Khan has announced not to contest election from NA 123. Mian Mahmoo-ur-Rasheed or Hamid Miraj will be the contestants from the PTI.
