Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Chief Hakimullah Mehsud might have killed a week ago, a foreign news agency has claimed quoting the US officials. US intelligence officials, however, havent confirmed the news. The intelligence officials maintained that Mehsuds death couldnt be confirmed, adding that investigation authorities were reviewing the contradictory information regarding Mehsuds death. According to them, Hakimullah Mehsud received a bullet in clash with the opponent group in South Waziristan a week ago. He was appointed the TTP Chief after the death of Baitullah Mehsud on August 5 and 6 in an American drone attack. A US counter-terror institution official said that they could only confirm the death of Hakimullah Mehsud after complete investigation. The news of Mehsuds death was run by the news agency reuters which couldnt be confirmed by the local and independent sources. On the other hand, Brigadier r Mahmood Shah told Dunya News that according to his information news of Baitullah Mehsuds death was correct. Shah maintained that Hakimullah Mehsuds death didnt make much difference as he wasnt a strong leader. The US wants to give a message by Hakimullahs death that Taliban have turned weak, Shah added.
