JI demands judicial probe into Indias water aggression

Dunya News

Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded to launch judicial probe against water aggression of India.

Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Liaqat Baloch appealed to the Chief Justice Pakistan to take suo mote notice of India’s water aggression against this country and set up a judicial commission to probe into the elements assisting India in construction of disputed water reservoirs. In a statement, he said that Indian water aggression had done incalculable harm to Pakistan reducing river water availability to the minimum while the rulers were acting as silent spectators. He stressed that after the report of the Judicial Commission, the issue should be moved before the International Court of Justice to check New Delhi’s plans to destroy the agriculture and economy of this country. The JI Secretary General said that the India had recently completed another disputed hydro electricity project at the river Indus. He said the Pakistan government had earlier decided to take up the matter before the International Court of Justice but now the idea had been changed. He said that the construction of the latest hydro project was a clear violation of the Indus Water Treaty but the Pakistani authorities remained slept all the time India was busy in building the project.Liaqat Baloch said there was some hidden reason for not taking up the matter before the International Court of Justice. He said the general impression was that some ex technocrats in the Indus Water Commission, Foreign Ministry, and Water and Power Ministry had secretly supported India in this regard, that was why the report of the enquiry into the matter had not been made public. The JI Secretary General said that any support to India in any matter was tantamount to treachery. A thorough enquiry must be held against all the officials being blamed for the same. At the same time, those deciding not to take up the issue with World Court should be asked to explain their conduct.
