Rain brings respite from summer heat

Rain in different parts of the country beat the prevailing long heat spell.

Bringing the much awaited respite from blistering summer heat, the first monsoon shower made its way to the various cities on Saturday.According to Pakistan Metrological Department, rain occurred in upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.Maximum amount of rainfall in last 12 hours was recorded at 51mmin Saidu Sharif.Rainfall in other areas remained 48mm inJehlum , Rawalpindi 44mm, Mangla 43mm, Rawalakot 35mm, Islamabad 29mm, Murree 26mm, Gujranwala 16mm, Muzaffarabad 13mm, Abbatabad 11mm, Kotli & Kohat 08mm and Mandi Bahauddin 07 mm.Metrological department has predicted generally cloudy sky along with chances of light rain and thundershower during next 24 hours, however, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the Sindh.
