International Anti-Narcotics Day would be observed Tuesday across the world including in Pakistan.
The United Nations in its statement on Monday in connection of ‘International Anti-Narcotics Day’ said that use of drugs and its smuggling is major hurdle in progress and development in the world.As per the statement, the money, which is gained through illegal trade, is being used for terrorist activities and other crimes for instance human trafficking.The UN reported that the Central American countries are the hub of illegal drug business, which is creating tense situation in the region and the entire world, adding it is creating violent environment in the society. Therefore, this region is at top in killing and violence activities across the world.Production and trade of opium in Afghanistan is the main hurdle in development while same case is with Myanmar, where farmers are producing opium for their livelihood due to poverty.Western and Central African States and even in Europe illegal business of narcotics is increasing day by day which need to be controlled and handled with iron handed.The UN stressed that illegal business of narcotics can be controlled and reduced with the help of civil society, governments and international community at large for the betterment of the world.
