Maulana Ali Sher Haidri along with his companion was killed by the firing of unidentified persons in Khairpur. Maulana Ali Sher Haidri was returning to Khairpur with his security guards when unidentified armed persons opened fire on his vehice, killing him instantly. Three more people got injured due to the firing who were later shifted to Civil Hospital Khairpur. The situation in that area has become intense and police has cordoned off the area, beefing up the security as well. The Pakistan Ulema Council has announced a three day mourning following this incident. Religious leaders have strongly condemned this tragic incident, stating that government has completely failed in providing security to the religious leaders.
