AG suggests SC to avoid hearing political cases

The Attorney General has urged the Supreme Court not to hear political cases.

While giving arguments in PM Yousaf Raza Gilani’s contempt case, Attorney General of Pakistan Irfan Qadir said that the proceedings of contempt case were not according to the law; therefore the case should be referred to a 17-member bench.Irfan Qadir said that unfortunately no law exists in the country to deal with contempt cases and that was why all the officials who misbehaved with the CJP had also been acquitted. He said that there was a clear contradiction between the Law and court’s verdicts.A 30-minute break was announced in the court proceedings, after which the hearing would resume.
