SC orders issuance of NICs to Hindu community

CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has ordered NDRA to issue NICs to the Hindu community.

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, resumed the hearing of suo moto notice regarding issuance of National Identity Cards to the Hindu community.In his remarks, The Chief Justice said this was an issue of human rights and the minorities also enjoy basic human rights.The Supreme Court directed National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to issue NICs to the people belonging to Hindu community in Pakistan.The court suspended the ruling after assurance by the NADRA authorities regarding issuance of NICs to Pakistani Hindus.
