Mehrangate: Affidavits insufficient to proceed with case: CJP

Chief Justice has said that unavailable reports on Asghar Khan Case are very important.

If these reports are not to be found, the court would order to lodge an FIR, he said.The Supreme Court three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry conducted hearing of Asghar Khan case where the Chief Justice remarked that unavailable reports are very important; it would be difficult to procede with the case on the basis of affidavits of parties.Chief Justice also said that submission of report was responsibility of the Secretary for Interior. If reports are not made available, the court would issue an order for registration of case and the Secretary for Interior would be called to the court in this regard.Justice Khilji Arif Hussain said that the nation has right to come to know about the right; the nation should be informed about correct information so that it may be aware of the facts that what is going on with the nation.Chief Justice also ordered the Attorney General that all the parties should be consulted about reports. The Attorney General informed the court that Saqib Nisar was Secretary for Law.Chief Justice said that Saqib Nisar is now on duty Judge; nothing can be said about this.
