Entire world awaits PNSC recommendations: Gilani

PM Gilani said that parliament will decide the matter of re-engagement with the US and NATO.

Prime minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that the entire world awaited parliamentary recommendations, which would be Pakistan’s benchmark for its future agenda.Addressing a meeting of parliamentary leaders of all political parties at the PM House said that the issue of national security was of paramount importance, and hence it was important to obtain a nationwide consensus.The PM said that the PNSC (Parliamentary Committee on National Security) had worked very hard over recommendations for conducive relationships with USA, NATO, ISAF, which the entire global community eagerly awaited.He made it clear that the issue of NATO supplies was not only related to USA alone but involved 48 (NATO member) countries, and joint consensus over the issue would evolve into any future strategy to cope with the issue.“The role of parliamentary leaders is very important, as your vision will decide the future line of action,” he added.The sources said that the joint sitting of the parliament mat approve PNSC recommendations in today’s meeting.The meeting was attended by opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Muneer Khan Orakzai, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Speaker National Assembly, Dr Fehmida Mirza, Ishaq Dar, Mushahid Hussain Syed, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Afrasayab Khattak, Kalsoom Parveen, Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Rehman Malik, Syed Khurshid Shah and Pakistan’s ambassador to America Ms Sherry Rehman.COAS, Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, and DG-ISI Lt Gen Zaheer-ul-Islam also attended the meeting.
