Police tortured Dunya News cameraman when he was performing his duties at Liberty Chowk, Lahore.
According to details, Dunya News cameraman AD Nawaz went to Liberty Chowk for coverage, where jubilant cricket enthusiasts were gathered to celebrate Pakistan cricket team’s victory in the Asia Cup final.The cricket enthusiasts were being baton-charged by police in the presence of ASP Shahzad Bukhari. When cameraman AD Nawaz tried to cover police’s brutality on the cricket fans, he was also subjected to severe torture. He was beaten by police officials while his camera was also broken.The political parties and journalists community across the country have strongly condemned the police torture on Dunya News cameraman.The PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chaudhry Pervaiz Ilahi, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PTI chief Imran Khan, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawwar Hussain and MQM chief Altaf Hussain have strong condemned police torture on Dunya News cameraman.The residents of Liberty Chowk staged a protest against police action and chanted slogans against ASP Gulberg, Shahzad Bukhari. Meanwhile IG Punjab took notice of the incident and sent SP Model Town on the scene of the incident who suspended two gunmen of ASP Gulberg.Meanwhile, CM Punjab also took notice of police torture on Dunya News cameraman and has directed CCPO Lahore to submit an inquiry report of the incident.
