Only Parliament can withdraw Presidents immunity: Dr Firdous

Minister for Information Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the immunity to President is constitutional.

And it can be withdrawn only by the parliament, she said.While talking to the media in Islamabad, she said that parliament has given immunity to the president Asif Ali Zardari and it can be withdrawn by the parliament.He said that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani would not take action above from the constitution; neither would he like to include his name among constitution brokers.She said that the Supreme Court should explain the definition of corruption in a clear way and the people who committed corruption should be exposed. She said,” We are waiting for the results of Mehran Bank scandal.”She said that the cabinet also approved for the establishment of Food Information System in Hindu Kush and Himalaya region. The cabinet has also approved the national policy to tackle natural calamities of earthquake and floods.Replying to questions of media persons she said that Prime Minister’s legal team has been preparing reply on the direction to write letter to Swiss Courts and he has already shared his views on the issue with the media in Lahore.
