Punjab Ombudsman restores pensioners' arrears

Punjab Ombudsman ordered to pay arrears of 1, 16,379 pensioners immediately.

The Punjab Ombudsman, Khalid Mahmood, conducted hearing of a retired Naeb Qasid and two teachers and ordered the Punjab Finance Department to pay their arrears without any delay.The court also ordered to pay the ‘Guzara’ allowance of pensioners suspended since 2001.According to the judgment, all the pensioners from Grade-1 to 21 would be paid their arrears monthly under special formula.The Punjab Ombudsman also has ordered the Accountant General of Punjab to take steps for implementation on the decision with letter and spirit.
