Summary University of Health Sciences approved its Rs2.13 billion budget, allocating major funds for salaries, examinations, research and development projects
LAHORE (Dunya News) - University of Health Sciences approved a Rs2.13 billion budget for the fiscal year 2026-27.
The budget was approved during a meeting of the Board of Governors chaired by Farakhanda Wasim Afzal.
Vice Chancellor Ahsan Waheed Rathore presented a report on ongoing development projects during the meeting.
Officials said the university estimated its income for the upcoming fiscal year at Rs4.40 billion.
According to budget details, Rs500 million has been allocated for conducting examinations, while Rs920 million has been reserved for salaries of employees and staff.
An amount of Rs342 million has been allocated for operating expenses and Rs96.8 million for research activities.
The university also allocated more than Rs133 million for its annual development programme and Rs21 million for scholarships.
For computer equipment and information technology, Rs31.5 million has been earmarked, while Rs20 million has been allocated for research chemicals and laboratory materials.
The budget also includes Rs45 million for purchasing an additional bus for students.
Authorities further approved Rs11 million for the construction of a mosque at the UHS Jinnah Campus and Rs126.5 million for repair and maintenance work.
During the meeting, approval was also granted for recruitment on 22 new faculty positions following recommendations by the selection board.
The Board of Governors additionally approved promotions of faculty members working on tenure track and extensions in contracts of 62 employees and faculty members.
