World Mental Health Day being observed across globe
(Web Desk) -World Mental Health Day is being observed all across the globe today.
The day aims to raise awareness about mental health issues around the world and mobilize efforts in support of mental health.
The World Federation for Mental Health announced the theme of the day as "Make mental health for all a global priority".
Before the pandemic, an estimated one in eight people globally lived with a mental disorder. The pandemic created a global crisis for mental health.
Additionally, the World Health Organization notes that World Mental Health Day 2022 on October 10 is an opportunity to "rekindle our efforts to preserve and strengthen mental health" (WHO).
Anxiety and depression prevalence increased by 25% globally as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the WHO, it caused "a worldwide crisis for mental health," and services, expertise, and financing "remain in short supply and fall well below what is needed, especially in poor and middle-income countries."
The World Health Organization (WHO) has run a global campaign for world mental health every year since 2013.
