PIC stent case: Inquiry report on expired stents insertion completed

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Inquiry report on expired stent insertion in Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) Lahore has been completed.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has prepared a report on the PIC stent case. The report stated that in 2021, the PIC staff collaborated to place 39 out of 210 expired stents in patients. Head of the Institute of Cardiology, Chief Pharmaceutical and other hospital staff were found guilty.

As per the report, the hospital s doctors and other staff members sold the stents to the private hospital. About 750 patients receive stents every month at PIC.

Stents are imported from an American company in PIC and the FIA has to submit a three-page report to the High Court.
