Fact Check: Video of Biden loudly 'sniffing' a baby is digitally edited

No such sound can be heard in the original clip

AMERICA (Reuters) - A video of U.S. President Joe Biden interacting with a mother and her baby has been digitally altered to add loud sniffing sounds. No such sound can be heard in the original clip.

“Breaking News. Joe Biden was caught aggressively sniffing a child. He didn’t know he was on camera.

This man is sick and should be kept away from children. Raise your hand if agree,” reads a Facebook post sharing the clip.

A tweet with the edited video garnered over 14,000 likes.

The clip has been taken from a longer video showing Biden interacting with a mother and her baby. While he can be heard saying “let me whisper a secret ... don’t tell mama what I told you”, the sound of sniffing was added to the clip later.

The original video, recorded by the baby’s mother, was shared on TikTok on June 9, 2023.

One of the post’s hashtags reads “#FortLiberty,” which is a military installation in North Carolina and where Biden held an event for improving opportunities for military spouses on that day.

VERDICT
