Chicago: Justin Howard wins US Air Guitar Championships
Twenty-two competitors took part in the ninth annual US Air Guitar Championships.
Dressed in a Viking-style tunic and sporting long hair and a beard, Nordic Thunder, AKA Justin Howard, won the US Air Guitar Championships in Chicago.Twenty-two competitors took to the stage in Chicago, for the ninth annual U.S Air Guitar Championships. Chicago resident and crowd favourite Nordic Thunder, AKA Justin Howard, hushed an excited audience before beginning his energetic and brawny performance to German group At Vances Dragonchaser.Thunder overcame past air guitar performance-related injuries -- including knee and back surgery -- to reach peek air guitar-picking fitness. The Wyoming natives motto is, Pain is temporary, but air guitar is forever.Second place went to Airistotle of New York and the 2010 US Champion, Romeo Dance Cheetah came in third.Howard will represent the United States in Finland against about 24 other air guitar aficionados at the World Air Guitar Championships, which takes place in Oulu on August 26.
