Today is the 72nd birth anniversary of Indian music composer RD Burman.

RD Burman is one of the most beloved composers of Bollywood, who died on January 4, 1994 at the age of 54.Rahul was the Son of another successful music director Sachin Dev Burman.Rahul was born on June 27, 1939 in Kolkata. His first composition was a song for a movie of his father at the age of nine.He started his career formally with ‘Chhote Nawab’ in 1961. After that, he brought a refreshing change with his extraordinary compositions like Raat kali, the sensual cabaret number Piya tu ab toh aaja and the classical Raina beeti jaaye. He had played mouthorgan in his compositions.He was credited with many Indian hits that earned several awards and nominations for him.He was given the Filfare Award for best music director posthumously in 1994 for ‘1942: A Love Story’.
