Indian artists slam government for not persuading MF Hussain to end his exile.
Indian artists and writers gathered in New Delhi and paid tributes to the renowned painter Maqbool Fida Hussain who passed away recently in London.On the occasion, they assailed the federal government as well as the civil society for not being instrumental in motivating the renowned painter to return to the country from exile.People from the art fraternity and art lovers attended the condolence meet and heard snippets of Hussains life from fellow artists who had known the painter for many years.A documentary on Hussains life and achievements was also screened besides an exhibition of his colourful creations on the canvas.MF Hussain (95) passed away on June 9, five years after he left his homeland consequent to threats posed by Hindu zealots who were not happy with some of his artistic creations.
