George R R Martin confirms three GOT spinoff shows are in works
Martin said that three spinoffs are still moving forward nicely.
Los Angeles (Online): With just two episodes left in the eight and the final season of Game of Thrones, fans have been given a lifeline with the announcement of three spin-offs.
In a recent blog post, George R R Martin the author of the A Song of Ice & Fire saga, on which the HBO series is based, said that three spinoffs are “still moving forward nicely.”
"We have had five different GAME OF THRONES successor shows in development (I mislike the term "spinoffs") at HBO and three of them are still moving forward nicely.
"The one I am not supposed to call THE LONG NIGHT will be shooting later this year, and two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer."
However, the author has been mum on what they will be about, or when they will take place, but suggests that “maybe some of you should pick up a copy of Fire & Blood,” (a history of the Targaryens in Westeros) and come up with your own theories.”
In 2017, Martin revealed that there were five spinoff shows in the works at HBO.
The series that Martin is “not supposed to call THE LONG NIGHT” is a prequel set thousands of years before Game of Thrones starring Naomi Watts.
According to the logline, the prequel will chronicle “the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour,” and look at the secrets of the history of the warring families in the fictional kingdom of Westeros.
