Two-day drama festival by Ajoka Theatre

The two-day drama festival by Ajoka Theatre has been organised in collaboration with the Lahore Council of Arts to mark International Womens Day.

The play, Kala Meda Bhes, was staged on first day of the festival in which the plight of women in this society has been tried to be communicated. Kala Meda Bhes is based on a real life incident that took place in a desert village of Cholistan in which the issue of custom of Watta Satta marriages and its effects on society has been discussed.The control of powerful and exploitative so-called “peer” (faith healer) over the simple villagers has also been presented in the play. Cholistan’s traditional way of living has been exhibited in the play.
