Americans are gearing up for the October 31 tradition, going to great lengths to decorate their homes, carve pumpkins, and come up with the perfect costume. A crazy-looking old lady rocks in a rocking chair, screaming at passers-by, while zombies, skeletons and a coffin sit amongst the garden amid a spooky mist. For those looking for the perfect outfit - this year, the top costumes include the Jersey Shore cast, Lady Gaga, and the 'angry steward'.New York costume franchise Ricky's NYC is seeking to cash in on the hit MTV hit reality series, offering a 'Snooki' costume, and 'The Situation', which comes with six-pack stomach. It took off this year, I think it's the second season that they did it. I think people are just trying to make light of it, have a little fun with it and it's a good funny costume - especially as a couple, said Ricky's NYC Director of Operations, Jason Sandlofer.According to Sandlofer, the other big costume this year is the 'angry steward' costume - a tribute to disgruntled Jet Blue flight attendant Steve Slater, who was involved with an altercation with a passenger and made a dramatic exit on the plane's emergency slide, with a beer in hand.It was all over the news, it was all over the tabloids for a few weeks and you know when it came out, we thought this would be something funny and we were right. It comes with the blue shirt, the dark blue tie, a patch. Beer bottles are not included, Sandlofer laughed.Last but not least, there's pop superstar, Lady Gaga.Lady Gaga is huge. She's been huge for the last couple of years. She's selling hit after hit and people from young to old, they love her, you know? And it's really been taking off, Sandlofer said. One of the world's most popular holidays, modern-day Halloween celebrations are drawn from ancient Celtic practices, and Catholic and Roman religious rituals. A time of celebration and superstition, the festival marks the transition from Fall to Winter, and is often thought to be the day that spirits can pass between the real, and spiritual world. While in the past, people used to wear costumes to ward off evil spirits, today, it's more of an excuse just to dress up and party.
