The movie, Agora explores pleasures, passions and dreams, during a violent and turbulent time in ancient Alexandra. British actress Rachel Weisz and Chilean-born director Alejandro Amenabar team up in the movie, a cinematic portrayal of the life of philosopher Hypatia of Alexandria. The historical drama is a journey to the Egypt of two thousand years ago, where revolution has taken root in the streets of the city, fuelled by the decline of Greco-Roman civilization and the advance of Christianity. The film, which centers around Hypatia, a noted scientist and a symbol of tolerance, shows the dedication to her life in the search for scientific truth. Weisz, who portrays Hypatia, said the story was very relevant to today's society. Amenabar's Agora has plenty of passionate scenes and some nudity. Weisz also talked about some of the more intimate and sensual scenes in the film. The actress who was born in London, and starred in numerous films, making her a household name in the U.S., also discussed breaking into mainstream Hollywood. Weisz can next be seen starring opposite British actor Daniel Craig in the movie, Dream House.
