Parveen Shakir s 15th death anniversary being observed today
Poetess of emotions and fragrance Parveen Shakirs 15th death anniversary is being observed today.Parveen was born on November 24, 1952 in Karachi. She started writing at an early age and published her first volume of poetry Khushbu in 1976 initially under the pen name of Beena which got great acclaim in the world of poetry.Her most popular works include her four volumes of poetry: Inkaar, Sad-barg, Khud Kalami and Kaf-e-Aa'ina, besides a collection of her newspaper columns, titled Gosha-e-Chashm .Shakir worked earlier as a lecturer and then became a CSP officer. She was also honoured with Pride of Performance for her outstanding contribution to literature. Shakir died in 1994, as a result of a car accident while on her way to work.Though Parveen Shakir is not among us, yet her poetry has made her an immortal being to be remain with us ever. On the other hand, third anniversary of famous Urdu and Punjabi poet Munir Naizi is also being observed today.
