KARACHI (Dunya News) – An SHO and four other policemen of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) were suspended over an ‘illegal’ custody of a citizen, DIG Asif Ejaz Sheikh said in a statement here on Tuesday.

On information, rangers raided an office of CTD and recovered the citizen detained illegally.

The CTD policemen neither informed the detainee’s family about his arrest nor registered any case against him.

According to the DIG, the suspended officials included an SHO, an ASI, and two constables.

He said two policemen have been arrested whereas their two accomplices are at large; police were conducting raids to arrest them.

The CTD officials allegedly demanded Rs500,000 from the family of the detainee identified as Alian.

Alian had returned from abroad and he was detained by the officials for extorting money. Further investigation is underway.
