DERA GHAZI KHAN: (Dunya News) – Four robbers were killed and a policeman embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire here on Saturday night, Dunya News reported.
The robbers belonged to dangerous Ladi Gang and were wanted in many cases of robbery, kidnapping for ransom and attacking on law enforcers.
According to police, two of them were identified as Irfan Mariri, ringleader, and Kashif Rand and the identity of other two outlaws was being ascertained.
Police said a team of law enforcers was conducting a search operation in Kot Mubarak area of Dera Ghazi Khan when the bandits attacked them and martyred a personnel of Elite force.
The martyred security Jawan was identified as Shehryar. When the robbers were fleeing after martyring the cop, police chased and surrounded them.
A fierce exchange of fire started between the police and the robbers. As a result, four robbers were killed in the gun battle.
Police shifted the bodies to hospital and started investigation. Punjab IG Dr Usman Anwar took notice of the encounter and praised the martyred cop.
He directed Dera Ghazi Khan RPO and DPO to immediately contact the family of martyred official Shehryar and assured them of police support and assistance.
