GILGIT (Dunya News) - An SHO embraced martyrdom when a murder accused opened fire in Gopus Bathreet area, police said here on Thursday.
The martyred police officer, Muhammad Alam, was investigating murder of a schoolteacher.
On the day of the incident, he was informed that a suspect involved in the murder of the schoolteacher was hiding in an area.
The SHO along his force launched an operation to arrest him and reached his hideout.
On seeing the police approaching him, the alleged killer opened fire at the police party, resulting in an instant death of the SHO.
SSP Ghazar Sher Khan reached the spot and started investigation after sending the dead body for an autopsy.
