Mob tortures middle-aged man to death over 'theft' allegation

The police vow to arrest the culprits and bring them to justice
AHMADPUR EASTERN (Dunya News) – A 50-year-old man, suspected of stealing a solar-plate, was tortured to death by citizens within the jurisdiction of Nowshera Jadeed PS on Thursday.
A police source said the suspect was accused of stealing a solar-plate to which citizens resorted to ‘take law into their own hands’ and severely tortured the suspect.
The citizens tortured the alleged suspect till he lost consciousness. The police arrived at scene and tried to rescue him, however, he succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to a hospital for medical aid.
The police said autopsy of the deceased would be performed first and then further legal procedure would be followed.
The DPO concerned said the police would not allow anyone to take law into own hands and announce verdicts without consulting the court or following a legal procedure. He also vowed to arrest the culprits and bring them to justice at any cost.
