Customs recovers smuggled tires worth crores, arrests one
KARACHI (Dunya News) - The customs authorities recovered smuggled tires worth crores of rupees in Karachi’s Mauripur area on Wednesday.
According to details, customs officials in Karachi told a press conference that on September 22, a warehouse was raided in Mauripur area on a tip-off and smuggled tires worth Rs 54 crore were recovered.
Furthermore, a person was also arrested from the warehouse and a case has been registered. The arrested accused is being further investigated.
The officials stated that the smuggling was done by tempering the tire numbers. Fifty five thousand tires which are used in bus, dumper and other vehicles were recovered from the warehouse.
The customs authorities added that efforts are being made to eradicate the menace of smuggling.
