AJK police record termed fictitious by citizens, says crimes never decreased

MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) - According to the records of Azad Kashmir police, crime rates have decreased this year, however, citizens have called these figures as fictitious and said the crime rates never declined.

According to the Police Office, Muzaffarabad in the year 2021 more than 8,000 cases have been registered for serious offenses including kidnapping, robbery, extortion, drug trafficking and murder.

However these figures are being termed as mere paperwork by the public. While talking to the media they said hundreds of petitions are also pending in the courts due to political influence and non hearing of cases registered in police stations.

Moreover, as compared to last year, an increase of 369 cases of serious nature has been recorded this year and instead of 8,000 cases of minor crimes only 4,500 cases have been registered, citizens complained.
