SC acquits rape, murder suspect after seven years
Justice Asif remarked that the prosecution lawyer has failed to prove the allegations against Khan.
ISLAMABAD (Dunay News) – Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday has acquitted a suspect, who was under trial in a rape and murder case of a minor girl, after seven years.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa conducted hearing on suspect Sher Khan’s acquittal plea.
During the proceeding, Justice Asif remarked that the prosecution lawyer has failed to prove the allegations against Sher Khan while the magistrate also didn’t fulfill legal requirements while recording his statement.
He continued that DNA report has also not proven Sher Khan as accused due to which his acquittal plea was approved.
It is to be mentioned here that trial court gave death penalty to the suspect in 2015 for killing a five-year-old girl in Karachi in 2010.
