24 injured on New Year eve in Karachi
The injured were transported to different hospitals of the city for treatment.
KARACHI (Online) - At least 24 persons including women suffered injuries as a result of aerial firing on New Year eve in different areas of Karachi.
In line with media reports, at least 24 citizens were injured when citizens resorted to aerial firing to welcome the new year of 2018 in different parts of the metropolis.
The injured were transported to different hospitals of the city for treatment.
A day before in a welcoming move, the Sindh government decided not to block roads leading to Karachi’s Seaview, allowing citizens to celebrate the New Year’s Eve at the beach.
“The citizens of Karachi are responsible people, therefore, they shouldn’t be stopped from visiting Seaview on New Year’s Eve,” Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said while speaking with the media on Sunday morning.
On the other hand the police apprehended eight people in different crimes from different areas of the city.
According to rescue sources, stray bullets wounded at least 24 when people celebrated the start of the New Year with aerial firing in Defence,Nazimabad, Lyari, Rizvia Society, Mahmoodabad, and Agra Taj Colony.
As the clock struck midnight, tonnes of fireworks were set off in different cities of Pakistan to welcome the new year of 2018. People in all major cities of the country prayed that 2018 will usher the country into a new era of prosperity and peace.
Security measures were ramped up as a large number of revellers took to streets to celebrate this occasion. Spectacular shows of bangers left viewers mesmerized. Families enjoyed food while youth were making merry with bike riding stunts and fireworks.
