Father kills daughter, lover over extramarital affair in Gujranwala
Bodies were shifted to the district headquarters hospital for post mortem.
GUJRANWALA (Daily Dunya) – A ruthless father brutally slaughtered his daughter and her lover to death in Gujranwala’s Ladhewala Waraich over extramarital affair.
The incident took place when Mohammad Azam came to meet his 30-year-old daughter Amna and found her in indecent condition with lover Waheed Akhtar.
The suspect slaughtered to death both with sharp weapon after which police officers, while arriving at the scene, arrested him.
Police said that Amna, who was mother of three children, was having illegal relation with Waheed Akhtar in the absence of her husband Mohammad Jaffer.
Moreover, bodies were shifted to the district headquarters hospital for post mortem.
Some 500 women are killed each year in Pakistan at the hands of family members over perceived damage to "honor" that can involve eloping, fraternizing with men or any other infraction against conservative values relating to women.
In most cases, the victim is a woman and the killer is a relative who escapes punishment by seeking forgiveness for the crime from family members.
Under the new law, relatives can forgive convicts in the case of a death sentence, but they would still have to face a mandatory life sentence.
