Lahore: Armed unknown assailants gun down 2 police officers

CM Punjab has demanded an immediate report of the incident from CCPO Lahore.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Unknown assailants late Wednesday night gunned down two police officers in Iqbal Town Neelum Block area near Number 3 bus stop area of Lahore. Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has demanded an immediate report of the incident from Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore. A wave of terror spread through the area due to the incident.

According to the details, unidentified armed assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on officers standing at a barricade and fled the scene. The two officers, Asif and Mubashar, were critically wounded by the firing and were immediately shifted to Jinnah hospital where both succumbed to their injuries.

Police say they are still unsure if this was target killing or a different incident and an investigation into the crime was underway.

According to Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Operations Dr. Haider Ashraf, one of the policemen who lost his life was a resident of Pasrur while the other was a resident of Ichra area of Lahore.
