LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan cricket team suspended the preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 scheduled to be played in February.

According to sources, on the directives of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, orders have been issued to halt preparations for the T20 World Cup, which were scheduled to begin on February 7.

Sources said the team management has also been asked to present an alternative plan.

According to sources, Pakistan has already assured full support to Bangladesh over its decision not to travel to India for the T20 World Cup.

The PCB maintains that Bangladesh’s stance of not playing in India due to security concerns is reasonable and justified.

Bangladesh face deadline over refusal to play World Cup matches in India

Sources further said that if the Bangladesh issue remains unresolved, Pakistan will re-evaluate its decision regarding participation in the World Cup.

Earlier, Bangladesh has reiterated its refusal to play T20 World Cup matches in India, escalating tensions ahead of the global tournament.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift the league stage matches to Sri Lanka, citing security concerns for the team in India.

Officials from the BCB emphasised that the safety of players remains the top priority. In addition to the relocation request, Bangladesh has also proposed a swap of groups with Ireland to avoid playing in India.

The ICC will now decide whether Bangladesh will participate in the matches on Indian soil.
