Equal treatment assured for Pakistan at World Cup 2023, confirms Indian ministry
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), on Saturday affirmed that Pakistan's cricket team would receive equal treatment alongside all other participating nations in the upcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, which is set to be hosted by India.
Despite historical rivalries, Bagchi underscored the principles of impartiality and parity that would be upheld for all competing teams.
Addressing recent speculations surrounding Pakistan's involvement in the imminent ICC World Cup hosted by India,
Bagchi asserted that they had taken note of the reports concerning Pakistan's cricket team's participation in the forthcoming ICC World Cup.
He stated that it was important to clarify that Pakistan's cricket team would be accorded the same treatment as any other nation's team participating in the ICC World Cup.

This affirmation comes subsequent to the official confirmation of Pakistan's participation in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, following the requisite endorsement from the Government of Pakistan.
In a formal statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan reiterated its steadfast stance on preserving the autonomy of sports from political influences.
The statement declared, “Pakistan maintains a consistent stance that sports should remain devoid of political entanglements.
Accordingly, the decision to dispatch our Cricket Team to India for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is firmly rooted in this principle,”.
Originally slated to unfold in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 15 October, the India-Pakistan clash has been moved a day earlier and is now slated for Saturday, 14 October, at the same venue.
