2nd eliminator: Whirlwind Kamran lifts Peshawar Zalmi to PSL final

(Dunya News) – Peshawar Zalmi 170-7 (Akmal 77, Bopara 3-35) beat Karachi Kings 160-2 (Denly 80, Gul 1-20) by 13 runs in second eliminator here at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The match was reduced to 16 overs.

Kamran Akmal’s 27-ball-77 shattered dreams of Karachi Kings to play final of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 for first time in three seasons.

In pursuit of 171, Kings were never in the game from the beginning. The required run rate continued to soar with every passing over. Even half-centuries from Babar Azam and Joe Denly went in vain.

Reigning champions Zalmi will now face former champions Islamabad United in the final of PSL-3 at National Stadium in Karachi.

Being sent in to bat, in the second eliminator of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 here in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Peshawar Zalmi set target of 171 runs for Amir-led Karachi Kings.

Kamran Akmal remained top scorer for his team. He made 77 on just 27 balls. His innings included five 4s and eight 6s. The senior Akmal also smashed Ronchi’s record of fastest fifty in the PSL history.

Being sent in to bat, Peshawar Zalmi were off to a stellar start against Karachi Kings in the second eliminator of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 here at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Kamran Akmal has broken record of fastest half-century of PSL. He achieved this milestone on just 17 balls.

Kings dismissed openers in the successive overs but the damage was already done. Akmal hit 77 runs on just 27 balls. His record-breaking innings included five 4s and eight 6s.

After completion of 10th over, Zalmi cruised to 120-2.

After Akmal’s departure, Zalmi batsmen were unable to carry on the momentum. However, a fighting target of 171 was set for Kings.

Due to Imad Waseem s unavailability due to an injury he suffered in the match against Lahore Qalandars, Eoin Morgan became the captain of Karachi Kings. However, he refused to travel to Pakistan. Today, Shahid Afridi also suffered a knee injury in view of which, Mohammed Amir is leading the team in the all important match.

In place of Imad, Afridi and Morgan, Karachi Kings have included Aziz, Mukhtar and Bopara in their final eleven. .
