FATA Super League: Cricket fever reaches Khyber Agency

(Dunya News) – With cricket fever running high across Pakistan as Lahore and Karachi host Pakistan Super League matches this week, a ten-day FATA Super League kicked off in Khyber Agency on Monday.

Twenty four teams are participating from different parts of Khyber agency in the super league which is being organised in Tehsil Jumrod’s sports complex. Four hundred and eight players participated in the opening ceremony of the league as spectators cheered during colourful performances.

Matches will be played in Khyber, Kurram and Bajaur Agencies and Peshawar.

Taimur Afridi, Chairman FATA Super League, said that the aim of the league is to find hidden talent and also to promote, motivate and inspire young players to participate in sports.

“This platform is one of the best places to showcase our talent and sportsmanship,” said Shah Nawaz, a player from Waziristan.

According to the organisers, the league is the second biggest cricket event in Pakistan after Pakistan Super League.

Famous and renowned Pakistani cricketers will also participate in the FATA Super League. Winners of the final match will be awarded with Rs 1 million while runners-up team will receive Rs. 500,000 prize money.
