Bangladesh bowler Tanveer Haider has been officially reprimanded by the ICC for swearing.

NELSON (AFP) - Bangladesh bowler Tanveer Haider has been officially reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for swearing at New Zealand batsman Neil Broom during the second one day cricket international in Nelson on Thursday.

The incident happened on the last ball of the 19th over when Tanveer, after being hit for a four, used obscene language which was heard by the umpires.

Tanveer, who was making his ODI debut, admitted swearing and there was no need for a formal hearing, the ICC said in a statement.

Broom was on 15 at the time and went on to score 109 not out to anchor New Zealand s innings of 251.

New Zealand won the match by 67 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Tanveer was found to have breached Article 2.1.4 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to "using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an International Match".

In addition to the reprimand for his breach of Article 2.1.4, one demerit point has been added to Tanveer s disciplinary record.

Pursuant to Article 7.6 of the Code, if Tanveer reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, they will be converted into suspension points and he will be banned. Two suspension points equate to a ban from one test or two ODIs or two T20Is, whatever comes first for the player.
