He hoped Sri Lankan players will also get clearance to tour Pakistan

LAHORE (Daily Dunya) – Sri Lankan Cricket Board’s interim committee’s president Sidath Wettimuny has welcomed Zimbabwe’s successful Pakistan tour saying that the enthusiasm and excitement of spectators was a pleasant surprise.

In an interview, Wettimuny said that saying anything about Sri Lanka’s possible tour to Pakistan in near future would be premature. He said he will talk to the players after they return to country, adding that he hopes the government will also exhibit positivity and grant permission.

He said that he watched the third One Day International (ODI) at Gaddafi Stadium in Pakistan and was extremely happy by seeing enthusiasm of the general public.

Sri Lankan cricket committee’s president said he was particularly happy after seeing the security arrangements.

He said the success of Zimbabwe versus Pakistan series is a very welcome sign, adding that everyone will accept this fact.

Wettimuny said he is very happy seeing the revival of international cricket in Pakistan and that people have proven how much they want to see international cricket at home.
