Terrorist attack on Sri Lankan team in Lahore was condemnable: Mamnoon Hussain

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – During his visit to Pakistan, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena said that Sri Lankan cricket team will soon visit Pakistan. He said this during his meeting with president of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain.

Mamnoon Hussain said that the terrorist attack on Sri Lankan team in Lahore was condemnable; he said that no such incident will be allowed to happen in future, so Sri Lankan cricket team should visit Pakistan. Sri Lankan president said that their team will soon tour Pakistan.

Sri Lankan cricket team was attacked by terrorists in 2009 at Lahore when the team was on its way to Qaddafi stadium for a match against Pakistan. The brave driver of the bus took the team inside the stadium, from where Sri Lankan team was moved to a safer place through a Pakistan Air Force helicopter and was sent back home in the next available flight.

After this incident no team ever came to Pakistan and international cricket was no more seen on Pakistan’s grounds.
