First Test: Pakistan 46-1 in reply to Sri Lanka's 204

Pakistan lost opener Khurram Manzoor for 21 just before the close.

ABU DHABI (AFP) - Pakistan were 46-1 at the close on the opening day of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Sent into bat, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 204 in their first innings with paceman Junaid Khan taking 5-58 and pace partner Bilawal Bhatti taking 3-65.
Skipper Angelo Mathews scored a fighting 91 for the Sri Lankans.

Earlier, Captain Misbah-ul Haq won the toss for Pakistan and sent Sri Lanka in to bat in the first of three Tests.

Pakistan gave 22-year-old opener Ahmed Shehzad his Test debut and entered with three pacemen in Junaid Khan, Rahat Ali and Bilawal Bhatti, who is also making his debut.

Pakistan also left out number three Azhar Ali to include Mohammad Hafeez, dropped from the last Test series against South Africa in United Arab Emirates in October.

In contrast, Sri Lanka entered the Test with two pacemen and two spinners, with off-break bowler Sachitra Senanayake making his debut.
