NZ wins toss, elects to bat vs Sri Lanka in T20

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat against Sri Lanka in the World Twenty20.

Sri Lanka finger spinner Ajantha Mendis was declared fit from a side strain and replaced left-arm spinner Rangana Herath for the first game in Group 1.Mendis missed the group game against South Africa after he was injured during his staggering record performance of 6-8 against Zimbabwe.Sri Lanka also included 18-year-old offspinner Akila Dananjaya for his debut in place of opening batsman Dilshan Munaweera.Opening batsman Martin Guptill returned for New Zealand after recovering from a hamstring injury which forced him to miss the group match against Pakistan. He replaced fast bowler Adam Milne.
