Business leader calls for new province; praises military response against India
FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – SM Tanveer, Patron-in-Chief of the United Business Group, has said that after securing victory on one front, Pakistan must now fight the “battle of the economy,” with the next target set at achieving $100 billion in exports.
Speaking at a ceremony in Faisalabad, he stressed that Pakistan had given a strong response to India during recent conflict. “The Pakistan Army launched counterattacks at dawn and by afternoon had destroyed enemy positions, breaking their strength,” Tanveer said, praising the forces for “making the enemy taste defeat.”
Focus on economy
Tanveer told the gathering that Pakistan’s economic front must now take precedence. He underlined the need for export growth and declared $100 billion as the group’s next milestone for the country.
Call for new provinces
During his address, the business leader also touched upon the subject of administrative restructuring, stating, “If additional provinces are required, then one must be created —regardless of the name it is given.”
Climate change impact
Tanveer further noted the environmental challenges confronting Pakistan. Referring to warnings issued in recent years, he said that climate change was causing alarming consequences, with 52 glaciers already reported to be melting over the past three years.
