PM Shehbaz invites Chinese firms to establish textile industry in Pakistan

Premier says Pakistan also desires to enhance cooperation with China in agriculture, IT and energy
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday invited Chinese companies, working in the textile sector, to establish their industry in Pakistan, stating that his government would ensure the provision of every possible facility to Chinese investors and industrialists.
During a meeting on Pakistan-China cooperation, the premier accentuated that China was a key partner in Pakistan’s development and Pakistan's desired to enhance cooperation in agriculture, information technology and energy, as well as to increase exports to China.
During the meeting, various ministries presented their proposals to promote the Pak-China economic relationship.
PM Shehbaz reiterated the government's commitment to providing foolproof security to Chinese nationals working in Pakistan, noting that a comprehensive security plan had already been formulated.
He informed the meeting participants that the government was preparing for the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and expressed hope that, with China’s cooperation, Gwadar Port would become a logistics hub.
Shehbaz highlighted that the second phase of the CPEC would include the establishment of agriculture demonstration zones. He instructed the ministries to prepare for the launch of new projects with Chinese cooperation and to enhance business-to-business linkages.
Shehbaz also mentioned that China could assist Pakistan in formulating a strategy to boost its exports.
Federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Jam Kamal Khan, Ahad Khan Cheema, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar, Dr Musaddik Malik and relevant officers attended the meeting.
