Govt employees get 50pc increase in daily allowances

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The finance ministry issued a notification as the government went for a 50 per cent increase in the daily travelling and mileage allowances of the state employees on official duty with effect from July 1.
It means the maximum travelling allowance for a Grade 22 official now stands at Rs7,200 per day followed by Rs6,000 in the case of Grade 21, Rs4,920 for those in Grade 19 and 20, and Rs3,840 for Grade 17 and 18.
As far the other employees are concerned, the amount for Grade 12 to Grade 16 is fixed at Rs2,160. I tis followed by Rs1,320 for Grades 5 to 11, and Rs1,200 for Grades 1 to 4.
Similarly, the transportation cost is increased to Rs7.5 per kilometre for cars and Rs3.75 for motorcycles, the details of which are given as: Rs15 for personal cars or taxis, Rs6 for motorcycles, Rs3 for bicycles, and Rs3.75 for public transport.
Meanwhile, air travel is allowed for employees in Grades 17 and above while the carriage of personal effects on retirement or transfer has also been increased to Rs0.03 per kg per km.
These rates apply to specified stations including Hyderabad, Karachi, Sukkur, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Quetta, Sargodha, Sialkot, Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Gwadar, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad and Mirpur in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
As far as the other outstations are concerned, the maximum amount is jacked up to Rs4,200 for Grade 21 and 22, Rs3,720 for Grade 19 and 20, Rs3,000 for Grade 17 and 18, up to Rs1,680 for Grade 12 and 16, Rs936 for Grade 5 to 11, and Rs744 for Grade 1 to 4.
On the other hand, similar increase has also been notified for the government servants posted abroad in diplomatic missions on account of foreign and entertainment allowances payable in US dollars based on the United Nations non-housing consumer price index.
