Government approves 20pc surge in medicine prices

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal cabinet approved price increase of around 20pc for medicines on Thursday, considering and trying to avert the probable shortage of medicines in the market.
According to sources, the decision has been taken in wake of probable shortages and to ensure the consistent supply of medicines in the market. The cabinet approved an increase of 14 to 20 percent in the prices of medicines.
The Cabinet has also approved a target of acquiring five million tons of wheat by the government, the procurement will be done from the new yields in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan.
According to sources, the country will require Rs.1160 billion for wheat procurement across the country.
