Electricity worth Rs219 bln stolen in FY 2017-18
People of Federally Administrated Tribal (FATA) were involved in Rs31 bln electricity theft.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Electricity theft has inflicted a mammoth loss of Rs219 bln on national exchequer in Financial Year 2017-18, observed Dunya News.
As per details garnered, documents submitted before Public Accounts Committee (PAC) state that consumers of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESC) had theft electricity worth Rs96 bln in FY 2017-18. Likewise, electricity worth Rs80 bln was theft in Balochistan.
Meanwhile, people of Federally Administrated Tribal (FATA) were involved in Rs31 bln electricity theft.
In Punjab’s Multan, electricity worth Rs8 bln were used stolen whereas in Sindh’s Hyderabad, electricity worth Rs6 bln was used but bill was not paid.
