US$ 7 million withdrawn from SCRA accounts

More than seven hundred thousand US$ worth of foreign investment has been withdrawn from Special Convertible Rupee Accounts (SCRA) in the first month of March in 2011.

According to the statistics provided by the central bank, foreign investment of US$1.67 million has been done and a total investment of 1.75 million dollars has been withdrawn from March 1 to March 6, 2011.As a result the foreign investment in the SCRA ended with a loss US$ 769,000 in the first week of March. During this time, American investors put in US$ 4 million and 23 thousand and withdrew US$ 4 million and 62 thousand. On the other hand, investors from the United Kingdom put in US$ 600,000 and withdrew total investment worth more than US$ 1million.
